The Citizenship by Investment Unit (CIU) in St Kitts and Nevis is in charge of processing all applications and carrying out thorough due diligence checks. Upon approval of your application, you may be required to attend a mandatory interview if you are over 16 years old. This can be done virtually (the default option) or in person at a location specified by the CIU and approved by the Board of Governors.
The interviews are conducted by an independent professional firm contracted by the CIU. This firm also performs background checks on the CIU. All background checks are commissioned by the CIU and executed by independent professional firms in Europe, the UK, and the USA, following the requirements of the Board of Governors. If an applicant provides false statements or omits relevant information, the CIU will reject the application.
The government approval process takes, on average, about 120 days (or 4 months) from the time you apply until the issuance of your passport. Once your application is approved and the investment made, you will receive a Certificate of Registration. This certificate, which confirms your citizenship status, must be collected in person either in St. Kitts and Nevis or at an embassy or consulate specified by the CIU and approved by the Board of Governors. You are entitled to a passport upon receipt of the Certificate of registration
The short answer is yes; you can get a St Kitts passport while keeping your current citizenship. Saint Kitts and Nevis has legislation recognizing dual citizenship.
However, you should be aware that not all countries recognize dual citizenship, and the country where you're already a citizen might not allow you to become a citizen elsewhere. You can check if your country allows dual citizenship here. If it doesn't, the only option to diversify your citizenship portfolio and hold multiple passports would be to renounce your current citizenship.
Saint Kitts and Nevis is not especially crypto-friendly when it comes to citizenship, despite the widespread adoption of Bitcoin Cash on the island. The government does not accept cryptocurrency for its Citizenship by Investment program. Although the possibility of accepting Bitcoin Cash was discussed in March 2023, no legislation has been passed in this regard, and cryptocurrencies are still not accepted as a financial contribution to the country's economy to acquire citizenship.
