About
Why Spain.
Spain's Golden Visa is closed to new applicants. Organic Law 1/2025 repealed the investor visa provisions of Law 14/2013 from 3 April 2025. The closure covers the former real-estate, financial-asset and business-project routes, not just property purchases.
People who invested or submitted a qualifying application before the repeal may fall within transitional protection. Existing permit holders can also have renewal rights under the earlier rules. Those cases turn on dates and evidence, so they should be checked individually rather than treated as a new Golden Visa application.
For a current investment residence route, compare Greece, Portugal and Italy. Greece still offers qualifying property routes. Portugal uses eligible funds and other non-property routes. Italy has its own investor visa with a different residence and tax profile.
Spain may still suit a family relocating through employment, entrepreneurship or another residence category. The Beckham Law is a tax regime, not an immigration route, and eligibility must be tested separately.
If you held the former investor visa or want to compare active alternatives, send the dates and basic facts through our contact form. Become Global Citizen can identify the questions that need Spanish counsel and compare the remaining European options without presenting a closed route as available.
