How we measure
What a passport ranking actually means.
Visa-free travel
The primary metric: how many destinations a passport holder can enter without applying for a visa in advance. Includes visa-on-arrival and eTA-eligible destinations.
Quality of access
Not all destinations are equal. The Henley Index weights access to the Schengen Area, the US, the UK, and major Asian economies heavily.
Trajectory
Some passports are gaining destinations (e.g. Malta, Türkiye); others losing them. We monitor bilateral changes and update accordingly.
