About
Why Nauru.
Nauru is a single-island republic in the central Pacific, north-east of the Solomon Islands. It's the smallest republic in the world, with a population of around 12,500. The citizenship program opened under the Citizenship Act 2024 and started taking applications at the beginning of 2025, which makes it one of the two newest routes to a second passport, alongside São Tomé and Príncipe.
The pitch is narrow and honest: this is a price-and-speed play, not a mobility play. The Nauruan passport opens 86 destinations on the Henley count, so it won't replace a strong travel document. What it does is give you a second nationality, fully remote, for less than almost anything else on the market, with a clean file clearing in roughly 3 to 4 months.
The contribution goes to a national fund framed around economic and climate resilience, which matters for Nauru because the island faces real exposure on both fronts. The single-applicant rate is USD 90,000 under a promotion that runs to 30 June 2026, after which it returns to USD 115,000. Family members are added per person rather than pushing you into a higher band, so a couple with children stays well below what a Caribbean file would cost.
Due diligence is the part that decides your application. Nauru runs a vetting-led program, and the background-check window is up to two months. We pre-screen every file before a fee is paid, because the cost of a late rejection is the lost government fees, not just time. If your source of funds is clean and documented, this is a straightforward file.
Who it suits: someone who wants a second passport as a contingency document, values a remote process with no travel, and is buying on price rather than visa-free reach. If your priority is European access or a top-tier travel document, Malta or one of the Caribbean programs is the better conversation.

Benefits
What this citizenship gives you.
One of the lowest entry points in citizenship by investment
At USD 90,000 for a single applicant under the promotional rate, Nauru sits alongside São Tomé as the most affordable route to a second passport currently open. The rate returns to USD 115,000 after 30 June 2026.
Fully remote, no travel required
The whole file is handled at a distance. There's no residence period, no interview, and no requirement to set foot in Nauru before or after you're naturalised.
Fast for a brand-new program
A clean file clears in roughly 3 to 4 months. Due diligence is the gating step at up to 2 months, which is normal for a vetting-led program.
Family added cheaply
Spouse, children, parents, grandparents and siblings can all be included, with no age cap. Dependents are priced per person rather than pushing you into a higher contribution band.
Dual citizenship recognised
Nauru lets you keep your existing nationality. You don't renounce anything to hold the Nauruan passport.
