About
Why Argentina.
In July 2025 the Argentine government signed Decree 524/2025, amending the country's Nationality Law to create a path to citizenship for investors without a prior residence period. If it launches as drafted, it would be the first citizenship-by-investment program in South America, and the first time a passport this strong has been attached to a by-investment route.
The headline terms, as they stand: an investment of around USD 500,000 into a strategically relevant sector such as agribusiness, renewable energy, technology or tourism infrastructure, no residence requirement, and a legislated 30 business-day decision window once a file is submitted. Those figures come from the framework decree. They are not final, and the program rules are still being written.
Be clear-eyed on timing. The launch is expected in the second half of 2026, and it has already slipped: a tender to appoint the program's master agent was cancelled in April 2026 and is being reworked. We're treating the date as a target rather than a commitment, and we'll tell you the moment the confirmed rules are published.
What makes this one worth watching is the passport. Unlike Nauru or São Tomé, where the case is price, Argentina opens around 170 destinations visa-free, including the Schengen Area. A strong passport with no residence requirement is a rare combination.
If you want to be in early, we register your interest now, hold your file in readiness, and move the day the program opens. Nothing is paid until then. If you'd rather wait for confirmed terms, that's a reasonable call too, and we'll keep this page current as the rules firm up.

Benefits
What this citizenship gives you.
A genuinely strong passport
The Argentine passport opens roughly 170 destinations visa-free, including the Schengen Area. Our Mobility Score puts it at 177. This is the first time a top-tier travel document has been attached to a by-investment citizenship route.
The first citizenship by investment in South America
Argentina would be the only country in the Americas south of the Caribbean to offer citizenship for investment. Early movers tend to get the cleanest files and the most attention from the program office.
No residence requirement
The framework is built to grant citizenship without a prior residence period, which is unusual for a country with a passport this strong. You wouldn't need to live in Argentina to qualify.
Capital deployed, not donated
The route is an investment into the economy rather than a one-off gift, so in principle there's an asset behind the contribution. Hold periods and exit terms are still to be set.
Dual citizenship recognised
Argentina recognises dual nationality, so you wouldn't give up your existing passport.
